Look Back and See God
As I look back I see You;
I see your hand,
your hand that has guided me through,
disappointment and pain,
heart ache and shame,
darkness and disdain.
As I look back I hear you;
I hear your voice,
your voice calling me back to you, talking me through
disappointment and pain,
heart ache and shame
darkness and disdain.
I am that bruised reed;
a blade of grass
brown where I should be green,
bent where I should be tall.
I am that wick, smoldering, barely lit;
unable to provide the light I need to see my way.
The fuel I had has gone away.
But I put my hope in You ’til victory,
’til justice;
Until You come to gather those who belong You.
I see You.
